Wind Energy

ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE FOR WIND PROJECTS IN CALIFORNIA

Wind energy construction projects often require special attention to sensitive wildlife and plant species, nesting birds, noxious weeds, stormwater pollution prevention and erosion control issues. DNL Environmental is experienced in all aspects of renewables construction, from clearing and grading access roads to tower construction and restoration. We can help you stay in compliance with numerous county, state and federal requirements by completing pre-construction wildlife, rare plant and nesting bird surveys, monitoring construction for biological and environmental compliance and assisting with post-construction restoration.

Project Experience

Lompoc Wind Energy Project, Lompoc, CA (2010)

Client: Acciona        Contractor: RES Americas      Firm: Burns & McDonnell.

Biological surveys and monitoring of geotechnical drilling at wind turbine sites. Conducted nesting bird surveys and focused surveys for federally-listed Gaviota tarplant. Monitored drilling crew activities. Wrote daily field reports.

Also conducted with pre-construction wildlife surveys along 7-mile the proposed Pacific Gas & Electric powerline right-of-way to identify potential environmental constraints to construction. The survey included mammal bird, reptile, and amphibian observations and habitat assessments. A survey report with detailed results was prepared.
